Math Teacher Zhang

Math that finally makes sense — from fractions to Algebra 1 and Geometry, connected.

Clear, visual lessons in plain English, built on the way many teachers in China teach: follow one idea across the grades, see why each step works, and practice until it sticks.

Why fractions first

Fractions don't stay in 4th grade.

They come back as ratios, percents, slopes and equations. When fractions never really clicked, later math feels like a pile of rules to memorize — and that is where confidence starts to slip.

The method

How the lessons work

01

See it

Every idea is drawn first — area models, number lines, bar models — so the rule makes sense before you use it.

02

Connect it

One idea is followed through the grades: fractions → ratios and percents → equations. Number stories → diagrams → algebra. Area → similar shapes → geometric reasoning. All the way into Algebra 1 and Geometry.

03

Own it

More than one way to solve each problem, practice that changes the numbers and the situation, and a re-check to prove it stuck.

Where the method comes from: many teachers in China teach math as one connected story rather than a separate unit each year, and lean heavily on diagrams. The bar models used in Singapore math are a close cousin. We use these ideas because they make math easier to understand — not because any one country's way is "better."

Fractions That Finally Make Sense

For grades 4–8, or anyone who never really got fractions. Each chapter starts from a real mistake, shows why it happens, fixes it with a picture, then checks that the fix transfers — ending with ratios, percents and simple equations.

Questions

Who is this for?

Grades 3–10: elementary math through Algebra 1 and Geometry — plus parents who want to help at home, and older students or adults filling in gaps.

Do I need to know Chinese?

No. Everything is in English.

Does it replace school math?

No — it's a companion that makes the ideas behind school math clear.

What about the SAT?

The SAT math section is mostly Algebra 1, some Algebra 2, and geometry — the end of the same path. See SAT Math ›

Is it free?

The lessons are free, and the fractions check-up will be too. The book is coming; follow on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram or Facebook to hear first.
